Our April 6th, 2016 Seminar: How to Maximize the Equity in Your Home for Retirement and Beyond was a hit! We covered current market conditions including statistics and projections from ReMax International and major financial institutions. Two guest speakers, Michelle Ghazouli from MICO Financial www.micofinancial.com talked about home equity investment opportunities and lawyer, Aaron Grinhaus, www.GrinhausLaw.com discussed strategies to reduce Estate Administrative taxes. Copies of these presentations are available by emailing your request to: cmowat@trebnet.com

Our first seminar “Options for Staying in Your Home as Long as Possible” was held in East York on Saturday, January 30, 2016.
The content included a summary of Golden Years Real Estate, how we came into being, our services (well beyond just buying and selling your home) and how our uniquely our commission is structured.
Lance Lehman, a real estate and estate planning lawyer from Malo, Pilley & Lehman was on hand to talk about the three most common mistakes people make in estate planning and real estate wealth as they get older and how to fix them. Can you guess what they are?
We talked about federally and provincially funded programs available for making the home more accessible. ‘Ontario Renovates’, administered through the various municipalities, is one such program and provides funding for home renovations for seniors and people with disabilities.
George Christopolous from Dominion Lending Centres, spoke about the financial implications of staying at home longer and how to leverage your home equity in a safe and reliable way.
Whew! We covered a lot of ground in just one hour! Our seminar participants asked great questions and went away with more information on how they and their loved ones can 'age in place' much longer than they originally planned.
